Stand Back, We Did Some Science!!!

This is, in a sense, our conclusion. We showed our conclusion and other interseting facts about our journey in answering our research question.

Were you able to answer you research question?

  • Yes, we were able to answer our question from our data anyalsis.

What conclusions can you make based on your analysis?

  • Based on our analysis we were able to come to the conclusion that lions do not affect the migration patterns of zebras in the Serengeti. Also based on our analysis we have come to the conclusion that the zebras and lions are in the same place possibly at the same time and date but they do not interfere with each other. It is possible that each animal are in the same place, but we understand that they are not interacting with each other.

What would you explore further if you had more time?

  • We would make a new research question and explore the new question. For example a question we would make is what is the exact date/time and the location of both the lion and zebra, therefore we will understand if they are really at the same place at the same time or if they are just captured in the same place due to the camera placement.

What were some difficulties you encountered as your group worked on the data analysis? How did your group deal with those difficulties?

  • In our work we have encountered many difficulties. At first we did not know how to make our graphs show where they lions and zebras were in the same place. Another difficulty we had was that we would go back and try to run our codes and it would give us errors, this was very frustrating because we are not great at using iPython Notebook and we barely mastered Code Academy. Our last difficulty was that we were trying to plot a graph where it would show the date/time and location of the zebras and lions the computer that we is using is very old so it take a slower time processing the data input.

What part of your data analysis are you most proud of and what were your biggest successes as a group?

  • We are most proud of being able to actually read the plot and fixing the plot when we had the problem. We were able to go from not being able to read our plot because of how much information it showed, to being able to read our plot but simply changing our coding around. Although we had help with changing our code, we were still able to change our plot. Our biggest success as a group was being able to change our plot so that it could show the exact location of the lions and zebras. Just by changing the code we were able to see where both animals are in the same place and where they were in different places. Another success of ours is learning how to change the plot around so that we are looking at the date/time instead of just looking at the location of the animal.
